I’m reading ‘Darkest Sin’ at the moment and am so enjoying the two investigations. I feel the pace and tension is slowly increasing like a train starting to move ! Up to yet I’ve felt both books I’ve read have been just right in length.
Was so great to meet you at the crime fiction festival, by reading your newsletters I found out about it.
It feels that books are getting longer, and my initial response was that I much prefer a shorter book. But then again I've just finished Dominic Nolan's Vine Street which clocks in at a shade under 600 pages and loved every gritty moment of it.
I've certainly read longer books and in my younger days would think nothing of ploughing through a multi-book fantasy epic, but now I think seeing a 1200 page hardback now would put me off. I don't know whether part of that comes from being a book blogger and having a TBR pile lurking in the corner, knowing that it's a time commitment to get through a chunky book when I can read a couple in the same time.
I wish yours were longer by which I do not mean more verbose or loquacious it’s just I always feel sad and bereft when they end.
That's very kind of you to say!
