The release date is the 9th of July 2026 (so exciting!) - and I'm UK based!

And as an addendum, I meant what I said in that one long-ago Instagram comment, Mr Bishop.... if anything bad happens to Saul, I'm going to cry, and it's going to be ALL YOUR FAULT! :P

I’m in the UK and cannot wait for the release date of 9th of July 2026! Did I get it right? Did I win? Remember I have to live with PDK!

You got it right. Winner to be announced in next week's newsletter.

I'm in the UK, publication is 9th July 2026.

Regarding numbers of newsletters read - if someone reads the email and doesn't click through to the actual Substack, does that still register? If not, I bet loads more have read it than are being counted. I rarely click through unless to 'like' or make a comment.

I don't know, to be honest!

9 July 2026 and this comes from both me and my Kiwi wife who has convinced me to spend half the year in the UK and half in Aotearoa! If I win, I would like to donate the books to the Judd School for their library, as it was there that my love of history was inculcated as a young boy

Six months in either country sounds like heaven, lucky you!

Ps, we spend 1-2 months in Lucca, which would make an amazing setting for a novel (and a visit, if you haven't been). The walls alone (the largest fully extant medieval walls in Italy) are astonishing, but the city inside is wonderful

It is, literally, the best of worlds

The release date is 9th of July and I'm in the UK (p.s. I hope after 2 years the gloves/arm warmers have held up well!)

D. V. Bishop's avatar

The warmers are doing sterling work, and my partner loves their pair too!

Greetings from Cornwall! I discovered Cesare Aldo about 18 months ago, and I’m half way through the series, and I have to say they are absolutely brilliant! Also, the latest one is out on 9th July, 2026!

D. V. Bishop's avatar

Grazie mille for the kind words, so glad you're enjoying Aldo's adventures!

Doesn't mean I'm not in the market for the earlier books... Just sayin'. 🤗
